Kensington Park MOMS Club - February 27

Kensington Park MOMS Cluba national support group for mothers who primarily stay at home with their children) invites moms and their children to attend the monthly meeting Wednesday, February 27 at 10:15am at the Kensington Park Library,4201 Knowles Ave, Kensington, MD 20895.

Corina DuBois will present a wellness program for being a fit mom, discuss stroller form and being active with children. She will lead moms in exercises during her presentation and sing to the children to keep it lively and upbeat. She is an ACE certified personal trainer and an official provider of Stroller Strides. This MOMS club is open to moms whose children are zoned to attend Kensington Parkwood ES and Garrett Park ES.The group's activities include trips to parks, lunch and coffee get-togethers, playgroups and more.

THE WOMAN’S CLUB OF CHEVY CHASE ANNOUNCES THEIR 33rd ANNUAL COMMUNITY ART SHOW AND SALE, TO BE HELD MARCH 14, 15, AND 16, 2008, AT THE CLUBHOUSE, 7931 CONNECTICUT AVENUE CHEVY CHASE. THE HOURS ARE FRIDAY, MARCH 14, 2-5 p.m., SATURDAY, MARCH 15, 11-5 p.m. AND 1-5 p.m. ON SUNDAY, MARCH 16. THE SHOW IS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC FREE OF CHARGE AND THERE IS PARKING AT THE REAR OF THE CLUBHOUSE.

FEBRUARY 29th, 2008, IS THE DEADLINE FOR ARTISTS’ ENTRIES. REGISTRATION FORMS ARE AVAILABLE THROUGH VARIOUS ART LEAGUES OR WILL BE MAILED ON REQUEST BY CALLING 301/365-0511. ENTRY FEES ARE $7.00 FOR EACH SUBMITTAL.

IN THE YEAR 2007, OVER 168 LOCAL ARTISTS SUBMITTED 499 OF THEIR WORKS USING VARIOUS MEDIUMS INCLUDING: OILS/ACRYLICS, PHOTOGRAPHY, PASTELS, MIXED-MEDIA, PORTRAITS, WATERCOLORS, MINIATURES, DRAWINGS AND PRINTS.

THE 2008 SHOW JUDGE WILL BE ELLEN ZELANO. A PROFESSIONAL ARTIST, MS. ZELANO’S WORK HAS APPEARED IN JURIED SHOWS IN THE METROPOLITAN AREA, NEW YORK CITY AND NEW ENGLAND. HER ART WORK IS IN PRIVATE COLLECTIONS AROUND THE COUNTRY. SHE IS AN ADJUNCT PROFESSOR AT THE CORCORAN MUSEUM SCHOOL OF ART, AND IS A FORMER ART INSTRUCTOR FOR WCCC ART SECTION. EACH YEAR MS. ZELANO TAKES A GROUP OF ARTISTS FOR A TWO WEEK WORKSHOP TO TUSCANY. THE 2008 TRIP WILL BE HELD JUNE 1-14 – ALL ARTISTS ARE WELCOME. JUDGE ZELANO‘S AWARD CHOICES WILL BE ANNOUNCED AT A CHAMPAGNE RECEPTION ON FRIDAY EVENING, MARCH 14, FROM 8-10 p.m.

THIS ANNUAL COMMUNITY ART SHOW BENEFITS THE ART SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM OF THE WOMAN’S CLUB. THE 2007 SHOW PROCEEDS PROVIDED $2500 IN ART SCHOLARSHIPS AT MONTGOMERY COLLEGE AND $300 FOR LOCAL YOUTH ART PROGRAMS.
